We Heart Roses!

Ronald Reagan signed legislation in 1986 which named the Rose the nation's floral emblem. You mean you didn't know we had a national flower? Yep, and June turns out to be National Rose Month. Think about all the blooming rose bushes throughout our great country this time of year. It's no wonder roses are most attractive, less expensive, and longer lasting during these warm summer months!

The rose has a long and colorful history, dating back centuries. The rose symbolizes love, beauty, war, and politics. The Greeks and Romans associated roses with Aphrodite and Venus, goddesses of love. The many colors of the Rose offer distinct meanings: red, the lover’s rose, signifies enduring passion; white, humility and innocence; yellow, expressing friendship and joy; pink, gratitude, appreciation and admiration; orange, enthusiasm and desire; lilac and purple roses represent enchantment and love at first sight.

Whatever the meaning, it's time to appreciate all of the varieties and meanings by of this patriotic flower. Celebrate Rose Month today by sending a rose bouquet to a loved one, because....well, just because!

Check out the Free Spirit variety, with layers and layers of ruffly petals. We love it!
